Born in Crema (Italy) in 1992, Eleonora Filipponi is an Italian mezzo. After her choral and her piano studies, she started singing under the guidance of the countertenor Roberto Quintarelli, and in 2014 she started studying opera with the Ukrainian mezzo Nadiya Petrenko. April 2014 she made her debut in D. Clapasson’s contemporary operetta Il Giardino del Gigante, while July 2015 she made her debut as Flora in G. Verdi’s Traviata within the first Crema Opera Festival. In July 2016 she debuted the role of Mamma Lucia in P. Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana in Crema. In October 2016 she passed the entrance exam atIstituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Claudio Monteverdi” in Cremona (CR) and she studied underthe guidance of the world-class bass M. Mario Luperi. In February 2017 she won the Special Prize at the 34th International Competition “Piero Boni” in Brescia (BS). In April 2017 she made her debut as Charlotte in J. Massenet’s Werther in Crema, under the conduction of Fabrizio Tallachini, and in May she was selected by Fiorenza Cedolins to sing with her on the stage of Teatro Filarmonico in Verona (VE). In June 2017 she was selected for the productions of the Festival Tones on the Stones, directed by Maddalena Calderoni, and July 2017 she made her debut in the role of Gertrud in E. Humperdinck’s Hansel e Gretel in Crodo (VB), with the direction of Alessio Pizzech: within the same festival, she also debuted the double role of Badessa and Maestra delle Novizie in G. Puccini’s Suor Angelica, under the conduction of Aldo Salvagno and the direction of Renato Bonajuto. In November 2017 she had her debut as Suzuky in G. Puccini’s Madame Butterfly, and in the same month she was among the finalists of the International Competition “T. Ruffo” in Lucca. December 2017 she won the II prize at the National Competition “Voce d’Angelo” in Parma, while in January 2018 she was selected byAsLiCo among the contestants of their international competition to play the role of Carmen in Carmen - La Stella del Circo Siviglia (Opera Domani), under the conduction of Azzurra Steri and the direction of Andrea Bernard: thanks to this opportunity, she performed in some of the most important Italian theaters (i.e. Teatro Sociale in Como, Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, Teatro Grande in Brescia, Teatro Arcimboldi in Milan, Teatro Sociale in Bergamo). May 2018 she was selected by Accademia Donizettiana to play the role of Enrico in G. Donizetti’s Enrico di Borgogna: the performance was held in November 2018 within the Donizetti Festival, under the direction of Francesco Micheli and the conduction of Alberto Zanardi. August 2018 she won the Best Young Talent Award and the role of Flora at Montecatini Opera Festival Competition. In November 2018 she was Mme Rivers in Vincenzo Bellini’s Adelson e Salvini, which was recorded at Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome under the conduction of Maurizio Ciampi. January 2019 she won the role of Dorabella (W. A. Mozart’s Così fan tutte) during the IV. International Competition “A. Pessina” in Garlasco(PV) and she debuted the role of Maddalena in G.Verdi’s Rigoletto at Teatro Lirico in Magenta, the role of Dorabella in Così Fan Tutte, the role of Carmen at Teatro G.Verdi in Busseto, the role of Isabella in G. Rossini’s Italiana in Algeri, the role of Zia Principessa in G.Puccini’s Suor Angelica in Wien,the role of Zita in G. Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi at the KammerOper in Vienna (Vienna Summer Music Festival), the role of Tisbe in Cenerentola and the role of Flora inTraviata at Montecatini Opera Festival. In August 2019 she sang at Prague Opernfest and in September she was given a scholarship by Raina Kabaivanska at National Opera Theatre in Sofia. In October she won the third prize ex-aequo at Fausto Ricci International Competition in Viterbo and the role of Suzuky. Between November and December 2019, she sang Così fan Tutte in Garlasco (Teatro Martinetti), Rigoletto in Varese (Teatro Condominio) and Cenerentola in Milan. December 2019 she entered Accademia del Teatro Comunale in Bologna (Scuola dell’Opera Italiana), becoming an official student for the class of 2020 under the guidance of Luciana D’Intino. August 2020 she started working with the group I Madrigalisti Estensi, conducted by M. Gaddi, while October 2020 she sang at Teatro Comunale Pavarotti - Freni in Modena for Luciano Pavarotti’s anniversary, under the conduction of Roberto Molinelli. In the same month, she also debuted the role of Second Witch in H. Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni, under the conduction of Mario Sollazzo and with the direction of Stefano Monti. February 2021 she won the II prize at VI International Competition “Vano Visioli” (online edition). July 2021 she debuted the role of Clarina in G. Rossini’s La cambiale di matrimonio at Teatro Grande in Brescia and she sang in a recital at Teatro Comunale in Bologna under the conduction of Salvatore Percacciolo. August 2021 she debuted the role of Ernestina in G. Rossini’s L’Occasione fa il ladro at Teatro dei Rozzi in Siena (Chigiana Academy), while between July and October 2021 she debuted the role of Lindora in A. Stradella’s Moro per Amore, under the conduction of Andrea De Carlo (Ensemble MareNostrum) and the direction of Fabiano Pietrosanti. November 2021 she gave her debut as Romeo in V. Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi in Crema. About future engagements, in the season 2021-2022 she will debut the role of Varvara (L. Janacek’s Kata Kabanova), the role of Marcellina (W.A.Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro), the role of Dryade (R. Strauss’ Ariadne auf Naxos) and the role of Maddalena (G. Verdi’s Rigoletto) at Theater Ulm. June 2022 she will make her debut as Laura in G. Verdi’s Luisa Miller at Teatro Comunale in Bologna under the conduction of Daniel Oren, and she will also make her debut at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino as Dryade in R. Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos under the conduction of M. Daniele Gatti. Between September and October 2022 she will debut the role of Marta and cover the role of Pantalis in A. Boito’s Mefistofele at Teatro Comunale Pavarotti-Freni in Modena and at Teatro Municipale in Piacenza, the debut as alto solo in G. Mahler's Third Symphony at Teatro Musicale del Maggio Fiorentino under the conduction of M. Zubin Mehta and the debut as alto solo in L. Van Beethoven's 9th Symphony at Teatro del Maggio Musicale under the conduction of M. Daniele Gatti. Besides her career as a mezzo soprano, in 2016 she completed her master’s degree in Literature and Foreign Languages at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan (MI), in February 2017 she completed her master inTeaching Methods for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders in Florence (FI) and in October 2018 she graduated in Vocal Studies at Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali “Claudio Monteverdi” in Cremona (CR). She is also member of a chamber trio together with Marco Brunelli (piano) and Diego Romani (viola).
