Mirko Matarazzo, tenor, was born in Rome where he studied singing and composition at the Conservatorio of S. Cecilia.
Later, he continued studying singing under the guidance of prestigious teachers such as Gianni Raimondi, Antonietta Stella, Franco Corelli, Luciano Pavarotti and Ernesto Veronelli. In 2009 he joined the Academy of Mirella Freni.
In 2005 he made his debut in Rome in the role of Alfredo in “La Traviata” by Giuseppe Verdi.
Subsequently, he debuts as Cavaradossi in “Tosca” by Giacomo Puccini in Csokonaiszinhaz theater of Debrecen in Hungary, where he sang for the first time the role of Don Alvaro in “La Forza del Destino” by Giuseppe Verdi with replies in Budapest’s theater.
Then, he performed Roberto in “Le Villi” by Giacomo Puccini in Parma and Piacenza.
For the Academy of Mirella Freni, he performed on “Premio Pico della Mirandola” in Mirandola, “Festival of Philosophy” in Modena, Gala opera at Collegio San Carlo in Modena and Romolo Valli theater in Reggio Emilia.
He also participated as the best student and only one Italian tenor, accompanied by the Orchestra of the Regio Theater in Parma and directed by Maestro Aldo Sisillo, at Memorial Pavarotti of 6 September 2010 to Palapanini in Modena, event broadcast in world vision.
In 2014 he interpreted the role of Cavaradossi for the Giglio Theater in Lucca and participated in a tourneè to St. Petersburg with the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. Here he imposed himself for critical and public success in the role of Luigi from opera “Il Tabarro” next to Italian soprano Amarilli Nizza.
In September 2014 was Cavaradossi at Giglio Theater in Lucca and in the same theater, in collaboration with the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, was one of the protagonists of “Lucchesi nel Mondo”, an event replicated also in Brussels to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the death of Giacomo Puccini.
In 2015 he was the protagonist first in “Tosca” at Pompei Festival and then (on August 14) in “Madama Butterfly” as B. F. Pinkerton for the 61th edition of the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago. On August 15th , less than 24 hours, in Torre del Lago he was still Mario Cavaradossi next to the soprano Daniela Dessi.
In September he sung in Tosca at the Taormina Festival next to the soprano Dimitra Theodossiou, partners with which debuted in October at the “Magnani” Theatre in Fidenza the role of Pollione in the opera “Norma” by Vincenzo Bellini.
In the same month, he was invited to Japan for the celebration of the sixtieth anniversary of the Gunma Symphony Orchestra to sing the role of Pinkerton in the theaters of Kiryu and Maebashi directed by Takao Okamura.
In February 2016 was Rodolfo in “La Bohème” by Giacomo Puccini at the Theatre “Ruben Darío” in a tournèe organized by Puccini Festival Foundation.
