Patrizia Cigna was born in Volterra. She was a student of Jolanda Meneguzzer and received her diplom in singing from the State Music Conservatory “Luigi Cherubini” in Florence with top marks, cum laude and a special mention under the guidance of Maria Grazia Germani. She won many important International Competitions, among which: Rocca delle Macìe (Siena, 1994); Tito Schipa (Lecce, 1994), William Walton (Ischia, 1995). She was also a finalist in John McCormack Competition in 1995 in Athlone (Ireland) and in Operalia-Domingo in 1997 in Tokio. She made her debut in 1993 at the Teatro Verdi in Pisa in the role of Juliette Brook in The Little Sweet by Britten. She has debutted in the role of Violetta in LA TRAVIATA produced at Muzikinis Teatras of Kaunas in Lithuania. She has just recorded for Dynamics Label and performed in Verona’s Filarmonico as la Colonnella in IL MONDO ALLA ROVESCIA by Antonio Salieri and last gennuary has been Elvira in L’ITALIANA IN ALGERI with Daniela Barcellona in Comunale of Firenze. She has collaborated with important conductors such as: Evelino Pidò, Rinaldo Alessandrini, Daniel Lipton, Roberto Zarpellon, Gary Bertini, Arnold Bosman, Vladimir Jurowsky, Lü Jia, Ton Koopman, Federico Maria Sardelli, Enrique Mazzola, Daniele Gatti, Paolo Olmi, Carlo Rizzi, Umberto Benedetti Michelangeli, Diego Fasolis, Daniel Oren and Zubin Mehta. She has also collaborated with stage directors as Ian Judge, Irina Brook, Ivan Stefanutti, Michele Placido, Lorenzo Mariani, Stefano Vizioli, Denis Krief, Pier Luigi Pizzi. She has also dedicated her carrier particularly to the rare opera repertoire, cantatas and masses, recording numerous CDs, among which:

In the 2000 she performed Carmina Burana by Orff for Slovenja Radio and she  recorded Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem in Wien and Innsbruck in 2002.
