Born in Leningrad, Boris Pinkhasovich graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory both as chorus conductor (Prof. Tatyana Chitrova) and as an opera singer (Prof. Irina Bogacheva).
His operatic repertoire includes roles such as Uberto in La serva padrona, Le Dancaïre in Carmen, Ibn-Hakia in Iolanta, Demon in Rubinstein’s The Demon, the title role in Aleko, as well as solo parts in Carmina Burana, Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem, Bach’s Johannes-Passion and Matthäus-Passion, Mozart’s Grande Messa and Requiem, Schubert’s, Haydn’s, Tchaikovsky’s, and Händel’s cantatas and messas.
He has worked with renowned conductors such as Mariss Jansons, Saulius Sondeckis, Leo Kraemer, Andrey Anikhanov, Alexander Titov, Peter Feranec, Michail Jurowski, Vladimir Jurowski, as well as with prominent singers such as Elena Obraztsova, Badry Maysuradze, Vladimir Galuzin, and Sergei Leiferkus.
Since 2011 Boris Pinkhasovich is a soloist of the ensemble of The Mikhailovsky Theatre, St. Petersburg, where he made his highly acclaimed by critics debut as Marcello in La bohème and received for his performance nomination for Best Male Opera Role at the Golden Mask Awards.
In the 2011/12 season he performed Eugene Onegin, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Prince Yeletsky in The Queen of Spades, Robert in Iolanta, Angelotti in Tosca, and Germont in La Traviata.
Recent and upcoming engagements include Lescaut in Manon Lescaut, Silvio in Pagliacci, Rodrigo in Don Carlo, Malatesta in Don Pasquale, Renato in Un ballo in maschera, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Marcello in La Bohème, Angelotti in Tosca(all in St. Petersburg), Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor (Limoges, France), Gunther in Sigurd (Grand Théâtre de Genève), Eugene Onegin (Ekaterinburg State Opera and Ballet Theater), and Mr. Astley in The Gambler (Monte Carlo).
Boris Pinkhasovich is the recipient of a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of Russian Federation, and is the winner of many international singing competitions such as the IV International Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Singers Competition (1st Prize, 2012), the International Singing Contest in Torrolovego, Spain (1st Prize, 2010), and the IV International Singing Competition in St. Petersburg (2nd Prize, 2009).
