After graduating in Political Sciences Giuseppe Altomare started his musical studies at the “Hochschule Mozartem” in Salzburg with Rudolf Knoll and continued them with Mrs.Iris Adami-Corradetti, Pier Miranda Ferraro, Franco Corelli and Carlo Bergonzi.
His real debut was in the role of Gianni Schicchi at the 39th Puccini Festival at Torre del Lago directed by Rolando Panerai. Since then he has performed the roles of Marcello in La Bohème; Sharpless in Madame Butterfly; Germont in La Traviata, Conte di Luna in Il Trovatore; Silvio in Pagliacci; Lescaut in Manon Lescaut; Renato in Un Ballo in Maschera; Rolando in La Battaglia di Legnano; Marchese di Posa in Don Carlo; Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor; Escamillo in Carmen; Mercutio in Romeo et Juliètte; Valentin in Faust; Albert in Werther; Conte di Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro; Jago in Otello; Lorenzo in Capuleti e Montecchi; Simone in Simon Boccanegra; Nabucco in Nabucco, Rigoletto in Rigoletto; Zurga in Les Pecheurs de Perles etc. He has sung in the most important theatres, like Teatro Comunale in Ferrara, Teatro Giglio in Lucca, Puccini Festival at Torre del Lago, Teatro D.Alighieri in Ravenna, Teatro Comunale in Modena, Tonhalle in Dùsseldorf, Teatro Massimo in Palermo, Teatro Regio in Parma, Baltimore Opera Company, Pittsburgh Opera, Operahaus in Zurich, Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Grand Thèatre Massenet in St.Etienne, National Concert Hall in Dublin, Auditorium in Milan, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Macerata Opera, Opera in Rome, La Scala Theatre. He has performed with several great conductors like Massimo de Bernardt, Giannandrea Gavazzeni, Gustav Kuhn, Chrisoph von Dohnanyi, Alain Guingal, Zubin Metha, Riccardo Muti. In i998 he live recorded for the R.A.I.the very first performance of the Opera Kaddish by Renato Chiesa. In 2002 he live recorded a C.D. for The Massimo Theatre in Palermo, where he was Noah in the Opera Noah’s Ark by B.Britten. On 31st December 2003 he took part in New Year ‘s concert broadcast from the Quirinale at the presence of the President of the Italian Republic C.A. Ciampi. He has performed the Mass in C.Flat by Mozart, live broadcast on the 3rd radio programme from Milan Auditorium with the Verdi Orchestra.
